State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury exchanges views with senior officials of Chittagong Port

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury requested the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to expedite the disposal of hazardous goods awaiting auction inside the Chittagong port so that the country’s only lifeline, Chittagong port, remains risk-free.

He made the request while exchanging views with senior officials of Chittagong Port Authority at Bandar Bhaban in the evening after inspecting the damaged area of ​​the BM container depot and inquiring about the treatment of the injured at Chittagong Medical College Hospital on Monday (6 June).

Meanwhile, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has directed to find out the real cause of the BM container depot accident through an impartial inquiry.

Addressing the officials present, he said that various quarters are jealous of the way Bangladesh is moving forward under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They are engaged in various propaganda to stop the pace of development of Bangladesh.

The state minister urged everyone not to be confused by any propaganda.

He urged the Chittagong port officials to perform their duties with caution. In particular, he urged the officials and employees to be thoroughly trained regarding the use of safety equipment and fire drills. So that any accident can be dealt with immediately.

Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority Rear Admiral M Shahjahan urged all the officials and employees of the port to perform their duties with courage. He instructed all the officials and employees of the port to undergo compulsory fire training alongside the officers and employees of the fire department.
