Bangladesh Bank has stated that it will no longer provide cash assistance for the export of aromatic rice. A circular in this regard has been issued by the Foreign Monetary Policy Department of the Central Bank on Monday (15 November). It said the government’s decision was going to clarify that the existing incentives for rice exports would no longer apply to aromatic rice.
From the last 2019-20 fiscal year, the government is providing 15% cash assistance for rice export. In this regard, a circular issued in January 2020 said that the subsidy would be given for the export of rice grown and processed in the country through its own factory. However, this facility will not be applicable in the case of export from companies located in specialized areas (EPZ, EZ).
