The first service operation vessel (SOV) TSS Pioneer built in Asia was recently experimentally launched in Vietnam.
This hybrid-electric SOV was built by Vard Vung Tau. It is owned by Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) and a joint venture between Ta Tong Marine Company (TTM) and San Shang Marine Company.
The vessel is expected to be handed over to the owner by early 2022. The TSS Pioneer is said to be the first SOV built according to the Taiwanese flag and class.
