28 sailors of ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ are returning to the country on Wednesday

28 sailors of BSC ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ stranded in Ukraine due to ongoing war left Bucharest, Romania for the country on Tuesday (8 March). They are expected to arrive at Shahjalal International Airport at noon on Wednesday (9 March). Bangladesh Shipping Corporation General Manager (Planning) Captain Md. Mujibur Rahman has given this information.

Although 28 sailors were brought back to the country from Ukraine, the body of Hadisur Rahman is not being brought to the country now. His body is being kept frozen in Ukraine and will be brought back to the country later.

‘Banglar Samriddhi’ was stranded with 29 sailors in the Ukrainian port of Olvia. The ship of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation arrived at the port of Olvia, Ukraine on 22 February. The ship was supposed to sail from Ukraine to Italy with raw materials for ceramics. However, after the war started, it could not return.

Hadisur Rahman, the ship’s third engineer, was killed in a rocket attack on the ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ ship in Ukraine on 2 March. The next day, 3 March, 28 sailors were evacuated from the ship unharmed. They were later kept in a safe bunker.
