Exports exceeded the target in July

Goods export trade grew by nearly 15% in July, the first month of the new fiscal year (2022-23). Exports in July exceeded the target as well as growth over the same period last year.

This information was provided by the report published by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). EPB published this updated information on Tuesday (2 August).

According to EPB data, last month Bangladesh exported goods worth USD 398 crores. In July 2021, the amount of this export was 347 crore dollars. In this case, compared to the previous year, there has been a growth of 14.72% in exports in July this year. Last July, the export revenue target was set at 392 crore dollars by the government. As it appears, products worth 6 crore dollars more than the target have been exported.

However, exports in July fell by nearly 100 crore dollars compared to June. Last June, Bangladesh exported goods worth 491 crore dollars. In July it decreased to 398 crore dollars.

According to export data for July, knit and woven garments exports totalled 337 crore dollars in that month, which is 16.61% higher than the same period of the previous year. Last July, garments worth 289 crore dollars were exported. However, in the recently concluded fiscal year 2021-22, the export growth in the garments sector was around 35%.
