Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi recently maintained there was huge scope of boosting trade with seven north-eastern states of India, popularly known as the seven sisters even as he suggested the Indian state of Assam could take expert trainers from Bangladesh and thus groom its apparel workers as skilled workforce.
Bangladesh Commerce Minister made the observations during a recent meeting with a 62-member delegation including 33 MLAs from India led by the incumbent Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Assam, Biswajit Daimary.
Biswajit Daimary also noted the development achieved and mentioned the ongoing mega projects in Bangladesh, saying Assam has good opportunities to enhance its existing trade and economic relationship with Bangladesh.
Tipu Munshi also termed India as a friendly nation as well as a trade and development partner of Bangladesh while adding apart from apparel, various other ‘Made in Bangladesh’ products are also popular in India.
