The two-day long International Investment Summit saw an investment promise of USD 270 crore, or about Tk 23,000 crore. This information was given by the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Sirajul Islam in a press conference held after the conference on 29 November. He said most of the investment promises were from Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia based Engineering Dimension International Investment (EDII) is investing greatly in medicines and the construction of hospitals. In addition, some promises have been received from Turkey and China.
Also present at the press conference were Salman F Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister and Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director of Berger Bangladesh. Earlier, in the closing ceremony of the conference, Salman F Rahman said that some Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on investment have already been signed. Some more MoUs will be signed in the next few days.
BIDA hosted the two-day International Investment Summit at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dhaka.
