At present the per capita income of the country is 2 thousand 554 dollars. If converted to Taka, it amounts to about 2 lacs and 15 thousand taka. In the last fiscal year, the per capita income was 2 thousand 227 dollars. Per capita income increased by 327 dollars, or by 14.68%, in the fiscal year 2020-21. Bangladesh’s GDP has risen to 409 billion dollars, up from 328.8 billion dollars, previously reported by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). The per capita income has increased to 327 dollars or 29 thousand 430 taka in the fiscal year 2020-21, considering 2015-2016 as the new base year. This information was revealed by BBS sources on Thursday (4 November).
From now on, GDP, growth, investment, per capita income will be calculated according to the new base year 2015-2016. Earlier, these calculations were done from the base year 2005-2006. Per capita income is not a single individual’s income. The total national income is calculated by adding the foreign exchange that the expatriates send with all the income from all sectors including agriculture, industry, and services within the country. Per capita income is calculated by dividing the national income by the total population of the country in a fiscal year.
