Bangladesh will work with Tanzania to develop blue economy

Bangladesh and the African country Tanzania have agreed to work together for the development of agriculture, blue economy, and other economic sectors. Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen had a meeting with Tanzanian Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Mashimba Mashauri and Blue Economy Minister Abdullah Hussein Kombo. At the meeting, both sides agreed on this issue. The meeting was held on Monday (15 November) at the state guest house Padma.


According to the Foreign Ministry, the two sides agreed to work together in agriculture, the blue economy, and other economic sectors. Tanzanian ministers expressed interest in aquaculture, fisheries, shipbuilding, and horticulture. The two sides also agreed to take the relationship forward through formal contacts. The two sides also agreed to send more delegations to boost trade and economic ties, the foreign ministry said.


Dr. Momen briefed the Tanzanian ministers on Bangladesh’s development progress. He mentioned that under the visionary leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh has taken part in significant socio-economic development. Momen thanked the Tanzanian government for supporting Bangladesh’s chairship in the Indian Ocean Rim Association. Foreign Ministry Secretary (East) Mashfee Binte Shams was present at the meeting.
