Service export revenue must be brought within four months

Bangladesh Bank has directed to bring the service export revenue within four months. According to a circular issued by the Foreign Exchange Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank on Thursday (18 November), the obligation to repatriate export earnings within four months will be equally applicable to the export of services.

The circular further said that in order to facilitate the repatriation of service export revenue, exporters can operate only notional accounts (unofficial accounts at other countries’ licensed payment gateways) or merchant accounts abroad. Apart from these accounts, different accounts cannot be opened abroad in any other currency including cryptocurrency.
