The International Investment Summit (IIS) 2021 is going to be organised with the aim of attracting domestic and foreign investors and increasing investment. The conference will be organised by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on 28 and 29 November at Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka. Its main objective is to encourage foreign as well as domestic investments by highlighting the potential sectors.
Participants will be involved in the conference, both directly and virtually. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be present on the opening day of the conference. Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal will be present as the chief guest on the last day.
The two-day conference will have a daily session, where policymakers and experts will analyse the prospects of 11 potential sectors. There will also be a technical session on the second day. Ministers and consultants of the concerned sectors will present keynote speeches. There will be discussions on investment opportunities in these sectors.
Goldman Sachs has identified Bangladesh as one of the next 11 emerging economies. The country’s economy grew at a commendable rate in the 2019 fiscal year. At that time, the rate was 8.5%. Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic development in the fiscal year 2020 was 3.51% and in the fiscal year 2021, it is 5.47%. Bangladesh aims at 7.2% economic development in the fiscal year 2022. The potential for investment in Bangladesh is high. The country is also trying to present itself as a resilient economy and stable society. The government is also inviting investors to enjoy various facilities. This conference is a follow-up to that.
BEZA, BEPZA, PPPA, BHTPA etc. will be the co-workers in this conference organised by BIDA. The conference will receive the support of the International Finance Corporation and UKAID.
