Luxury tourist ships have been re-launched on the Chattogram- St. Martins route

The luxury tourist ship ‘Bay One’ has been re-launched on the Chattogram-St. Martins route. The ship left the no. 15 wharf in Patenga, Chattogram at 11 pm on 25 November for St. Martins.

Tickets are available at the counter and online. Karnafuly Ship Builders Limited, which operates the ship, has set a regular departure schedule from Chattogram three days a week from next month. Karnafuly Ship Builders Limited organised a press conference at Patenga wharf No. 15 on the occasion of the ship’s voyage. Abdur Rashid, managing director of the company, said Bay One was launched on the Chattogram-St. Martins route last December.

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its voyages were stopped in March. Now that it has been re-launched, fares have risen by 17% due to rising fuel prices. Fuel cost for operating the ship for one day is Tk 21 lac.

Abdur Rashid said, ‘If the government helps, we will be able to provide ships 10 times larger than Bay One as transport for those going to Hajj. It used to take a month to go for Hajj and now it only takes 8 days.’
