LPG prices have gone down

Within a month of prices rising, the price of liquefied natural gas (LPG) has come down in the country. In the private sector, the maximum retail price of 12 kg cylinder LPG including VAT has been reduced from Tk 1,313 to Tk 1,228. As a result, the price of 12 kg LPG has come down by Tk 85.

The new price has been effective from Friday (3 December), the BERC said in a statement.

Earlier in November, the price of 12 kg LPG cylinder was increased from Tk 1,259 to Tk 1,313. Last October, BERC had increased the price of LPG, including VAT, from Tk 86.7 per kg to Tk 104.92. As a result in October, the price of a 12 kg cylinder increased from Tk 1,033 to Tk 1,259. This price was effective from 10 October.

At the same time, the price of LP gas used in transportation has gone up. This is commonly known as autogas. For the month of November, the price of autogas has been increased from Tk 58.68 per litre to Tk 61.18 per litre. Price has increased by Tk 2.50 per litre. And last October it increased by Tk 8.12. According to the Saudi CP, propane, and butane were priced at $870 and $830 per tonne in October, respectively, compared to September, and the new price was set for November, considering the blending ratio of 35:65. This was $800 and $795 per tonne, respectively, in October.
