Imports and exports are being launched in full swing at the land port of Bilonia

After a long period, import-export is being launched in full swing through the land port of Bilonia in Parshuram, Feni. This information has been revealed in a letter signed by Md. Belal Hossain, Comilla Commissioner of Customs Excise and VAT. So far there has been an opportunity to export goods but no opportunity to import.

The letter states that the land customs station is a potential customs station in Bilonia, with permission to import all types of goods except import-prohibited goods. A wide access road has been constructed from the land port of Bilonia. Bilonia has large customs installations and ample land.

The rail line will be introduced here in the near future. Therefore, all importers and exporters, and C&F agents have been asked to allow the import of all types of goods except import-prohibited goods through this station. The letter also said that in the future, the land port of Bilonia will be open for large-scale import-export and import of all kinds of goods.

On 4 November, Zakia Sultana, a member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), visited the Bilonia land port in Feni. During the visit, she visited various areas of Bilonia land port including customs, port, and immigration.

One-way trade has been going on since the opening of the land port of Bilonia. The Bilonia customs port in Feni, built during the British rule, was started as a land port on 4 October 2009 to facilitate trade between Bangladesh and India. The Bilonia land port was officially opened as the 17th land port in the country.

The land port is currently staffed by a Land Customs Officer, an Assistant Revenue Officer, and two Ansar members. Bricks, stones, cement, rods are being exported to India. On the other hand, import of cattle, fish fry, fresh fruits, timber, seeds, coal, wheat, limestone, onion, pepper, turmeric, and ginger from India was allowed but for a long time only one-way trade was going on.
