‘Customs Duty e-Payment’ (Electronic Payment) will be fully implemented for the payment of taxes in all customs stations of the country including Chittagong Customs House from 1 January next year. Earlier, from 1 July of the current fiscal year (2021-2022), the process of payment of taxes worth over Tk 2 lacs was started in the e-payment system.
The e-payment system allows the importer to pay the tax from any bank in the country. The RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) system of Bangladesh Bank will act as a gateway between Sonali Bank Chittagong Custom House branch and the bank from which the fee will be paid. Sonali Bank is the only gateway to e-payment. The process will take two minutes to pay the taxes using the user ID of the importer through ASYCUDA World software (software of the National Board of Revenue regarding taxes). Six types of information are required for e-payment. Bill of entry number, fiscal year, customs house office code, amount of tax paid, Agent Identification Number (AIN), and phone number.
