BGMEA requests assistance in facilitating export process

BGMEA, an association of garments manufacturers and exporters, has requested the Ministry of Commerce to facilitate the export process to help address the current challenges facing the garments industry. A delegation led by BGMEA President Faruque Hassan made the request during a meeting with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, MP, at the Secretariat on Thursday (30 December).

BGMEA delegation included BGMEA First Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam, Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Vice President (Finance) Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Md. Nasir Uddin, Vice President Miran Ali, Vice President Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, and Director Asif Ashraf.

They described the problems that the garments industry is currently facing to the Minister and requested the government to take steps to address the problems.

The BGMEA president said that Omicron is creating renewed concern among exporters and is posing new challenges to the sector. Since the garments industry is playing a major role in the economy of Bangladesh, it is important to take steps to protect this industrial sector in difficult situations.
