In the year 2021, a total of 81 incidents of piracy took place in the waters of the Asian continent, including 5 incidents of piracy in the waters of neighbouring India. Apart from 5 in India, there were also 12 in Indonesia, 1 in Malaysia, 12 in the Philippines, 2 in Vietnam, and 49 in Malacca and Singapore. The good news is that no such events of piracy have taken place in the waters of Chittagong port in recent years.
This information has come up in the count by the international organization RECAAP of events of piracy that took place in the waters of Asia in 2021. The company is known and accepted worldwide for its work in preventing armed robbery, piracy, and theft on ships.
Meanwhile, as no events of piracy took place in 2021, people are looking at Chittagong port as a safe and acceptable port in the world. According to them, the image of Chittagong port is improving abroad. As a result, foreigners will be more interested in sending ships to Bangladesh. Primarily, the implementation of effective strategies by the Navy, the Coast Guard, and the Port Authority has resulted in the creation of maritime waters free from piracy.
