Japanese warships ‘URAGA and HIRADO’ arrived in Chittagong port on a goodwill visit

Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) warships JS URAGA and JS HIRADO arrived in Bangladesh on a goodwill visit.
The two ships arrived at the jetty of Chittagong port on Saturday (8 January).

After arriving at the port, the navy’s band welcomed the two ships by playing musical instruments according to the tradition. Later, Chief Staff Officer of Chattogram Naval Zone Captain Masudul Karim Siddiqui welcomed the captains of the two ships. High-ranking officials of the navy, including the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, were present at the time. Earlier, when the two ships reached the waters of Bangladesh, they were welcomed by the navy ship ‘Prottoy’.

During the stay of the two ships in Bangladesh, a delegation including the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh will pay a courtesy call on Commander Chattogram Naval Zone, Commander BN Fleet, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, and Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority.

This goodwill visit of the two ships will play an important role in further strengthening the mutual friendly cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan.

The two ships are scheduled to leave Bangladesh on 10 January after a three-day goodwill visit.
