BGMEA calls for increasing trains on the Dhaka-Chattogram route for transporting goods

A delegation led by BGMEA President Faruque Hassan recently met Railway Minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujon. The delegation included Vice President Miran Ali, Director Asif Ashraf, and Barrister Vidiya Amrit Khan. During the meeting, the BGMEA president called for increasing the number of trains on the Dhaka-Chattogram route to facilitate the transportation of import-export goods.

The BGMEA leaders also requested the Railway Minister to launch a special shuttle train on the Dhaka-Sreepur route to facilitate the movement of garments factory owners, workers, and employees. At that time, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan emphasised the construction of an inland container depot (ICD) on the west bank of the Jamuna River, saying that it would facilitate the transportation of cotton and yarn imported from India.

Railway Secretary Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir was also present at the meeting.
