In the last fiscal year (2020-21), Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has made a net profit of Tk 72 crores and 2 lacs, said Commodore Sumon Mahmud Sabbir, managing director of the organisation. He made the remarks while exchanging views with reporters at the BSC building in Chattogram on Tuesday (18 January). The meeting was organised on the occasion of the 44th Annual General Meeting of BSC, which will be held virtually on 27 January.
Commodore Sumon Mahmud Sabbir said that the total income of BSC in the fiscal year 2020-21 is Tk 322 crores and 97 lacs. Of this, operating income was Tk 274 crores and 27 lacs, while income in other sectors was Tk 48 crores and 70 lacs. Operating expenses was 160 crores and 22 lacs, administrative and financial expenditure was Tk 67 crores and 5 lacs. The total expenditure was Tk 227 crores and 27 lacs. Net profit was Tk 72 crores and 2 lacs, which is Tk 30 crores and 55 lacs more than the previous year. The previous year’s net profit after tax adjustment was Tk 41 crores and 47 lacs.
This time it has been recommended that shareholders pay 12% cash dividends from their net profits.
