Bangladesh wants to complete a preferential trade agreement with Indonesia this year. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen discussed the issue in a telephone conversation with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on Wednesday (19 January).
According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, Abdul Momen expressed satisfaction with the increase in bilateral trade in recent years and requested that Indonesia import more to reduce Bangladesh’s trade deficit.
Bangladesh is also keen to enhance relations with the ASEAN union and for this, the Foreign Minister sought the support of Indonesia to become a sectoral dialogue partner of ASEAN.
The two ministers agreed to celebrate the golden jubilee of bilateral diplomatic relations on a grand scale.
