State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP has said that even if the connecting point of Padma Bridge is connected to Kamalapur Inland Container Depot (ICD), there will be no problem in operating ICD. Arrangements will be made in consultation with the railway authority. Even if the ICD is shifted to another place, there will be no problems for the workers. We will establish more ICDs. We have that capability.
The State Minister made the remarks during the distribution of winter clothes among ICD labourers and the destitute organised by Chittagong port at Kamalapur Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Dhaka on Saturday (22 January).
Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority, Ahmedul Karim, Deputy Traffic Manager (ICD), and Tushar Khan Babul, President of ICD Workers Union also spoke on the occasion. 270 people were given winter clothes on the occasion.
The State Minister further said that the Padma Bridge name symbolises self-respect, courage, and Bangladesh moving forward. Under the leadership of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh has achieved a proud victory. He was our pride and victory; he was lost in the dark by being assassinated just three and a half years after independence. After the assassination of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh started to fade. Bangladesh became known all over the world for its hunger, poverty, and floods. Various people have become established by taking advantage of the poverty in the country; the Nobel Prize has been awarded but the fate of the people of Bangladesh has not changed. Poverty has not been alleviated. After ’75, Padma Bridge has taken us to a stage of pride and dignity. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina challenged the World Bank and implemented Padma Bridge. On 23 June, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Padma Bridge.
The State Minister said national and international groups are conspiring after seeing the development progress of Bangladesh. During the war of liberation, the United States could not prevent the victory of Bangladesh even by sending the seventh naval base. US and British traders are being unable to tolerate the development and progress of Bangladesh. They are conspiring to hold us back. We need to be aware of the conspirators. The conspirators are also conspiring against the law enforcement agencies. Under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, we have reached the goal of building a golden Bengal. Progress cannot be stopped by propaganda. We have limitations but no crisis. By the year 2030, Bangladesh will be the 24th economically developed country.
