BGMEA, an organisation of entrepreneurs in the garments industry, wants fast unloading of imported raw materials, machinery, and equipment of this sector. The organisation has also sought the cooperation of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to facilitate other business processes.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan requested this cooperation in a meeting with NBR customs policy member Md. Masud Sadiq. The meeting was held at the NBR head office in Segunbagicha, Dhaka on Wednesday (9 February).
The BGMEA President said, ‘Saving time and cost in business is very important to accelerate export trade. It is also important to make business processes faster and easier to maintain competitiveness and to take advantage of new opportunities.’
During the meeting, he raised various issues related to the tax and bonds of garments exporters. He requested to take effective steps to solve these problems quickly.
BGMEA Vice-President Shahidullah Azim, former first Vice-President SM Abu Tayyab, former first Vice-President Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, and former director Md. Munir Hossain were present at the meeting.
