Chittagong port commemorates language martyrs on International Mother Language Day

Chittagong Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan and Board members lay wreaths at the Shaheed Minar in honour of the language martyrs.

Chittagong Port Authority commemorated the martyrs of the language movement on International Mother Language Day and Martyrs’ Day. Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Chairman of the port authority, and board members paid their respects to the language martyrs by laying flowers at the Shaheed Minar on Monday morning (21 February). Afterward, the officers’ association, port Employees’ council, and educational institutions run by the port also presented wreaths.

In the port mosque, prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the souls of the language martyrs

As part of the day’s program, online essay and handwriting competitions were organised with the participation of students. Apart from this, prayers were offered in the mosques of the port for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs, good food was served in the port hospital and the port facilities were decorated with lights.
