A mobile court of the Department of Environment has fined two resorts and three tourist ships for violating a government ban in an environmentally endangered area of the coral island of St. Martin.
On Thursday (24 February) afternoon, three tourist ships headed to St. Martin were fined Tk 60,000 for dumping garbage in the sea. Earlier on Wednesday evening, two resorts along the west coast of St. Martin were fined Tk 60,000.
The operation was led by the Department of Environment Executive Magistrate Nowrin Haque and Executive Officer of Teknaf upazila (UNO) Parvez Chowdhury.
