Bangladesh-India trade portal launched

Bangladesh is emphasising improving communication and strengthening connectivity among the people to improve trade and commerce through shipping, rail, and air. Recently, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Hasan Mahmud MP made this comment at an event organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.

On the occasion, Dr. Hasan Mahmud discussed food, clothing, culture, and language similarities between Assam, India, and Bangladesh. Assam’s Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary also attended the function.

During this, the India-Bangladesh trade portal was also launched. This will facilitate the business bond between India and Bangladesh. Databases of exporters and importers from India and Bangladesh are uploaded to this portal. This will increase the cooperation between buyers and sellers in both countries. It will also allow business transactions and negotiations between the two parties.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud further said that Chittagong port has had a long historical relationship with Assam and that region since the British rule. The century-old seaport has been rebuilt. Chittagong port is closer to Guwahati compared to Haldia port in Kolkata. This will not only reduce the cost of transportation but also increase business activities.
