28 sailors of ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ who were stranded in Ukraine returned home

The 28 sailors of BSC’s ship ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ have returned to Bangladesh from Ukraine. The flight carrying them landed at Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday (9 March). The sailors left for Bangladesh on Tuesday. At around 11 a.m. on Sunday, they crossed the Ukraine border and reached Romania via Moldova. Also, the process of returning the body of Hadisur Rahman, the third engineer of the ship kept in Ukraine, has also started.

Last Wednesday (2 March) at 9:20 pm Bangladesh time, the ship MV ‘Banglar Samriddhi’, a ship of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, which was anchored near the port of Olvia jetty, came under attack by a missile. The ship’s third engineer, Hadisur Rahman, was killed in the attack.

The ship of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation left the port of Iragli, Turkey on 21 February for the port of Olvia, Ukraine to load products. Two days later, it anchored near the port of Olvia harbour. The ship got stuck when Russia attacked Ukraine early Thursday morning. He was attacked a week later. After the attack on Wednesday, the MV ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ ship caught fire. At first, the sailors tried to put out the fire. A tugboat arrived from the port of Olvia to help put out the fire. The sailors tried to control the fire. The ship’s bridge was destroyed in the attack. The body of sailor Hadisur Rahman was found lying in the wreckage.
