Chittagong port held lively celebrations on the occasion of Bangabandhu’s birthday

The Chittagong Port Authority has celebrated the 102nd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day with various programs throughout the day.

Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority, members of the port, and former member and heroic freedom fighter Hadi Hossain Babul laid a wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation at the port premises on Thursday (17 March) at 9 a.m and cut a cake with the children.

Officers and employees of all levels including all the divisional heads of the port and President and General Secretary of the Chittagong Port Employees’ Council, retired freedom fighter officers, and employees were present during the program.

A discussion meeting on vibrant life and work of Bangabandhu was organised at Shahid Fazlur Rahman Munshi Auditorium at 10:45 a.m under the theme ‘Bangabandhu’s Birthday Pledge, All Children Have Equal Rights’, distribution of prizes to the winners of the essay and painting competition organised on the theme ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’, and a cultural program were arranged. Port Chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan was present as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners. Later, a documentary on the life and deeds of Bangabandhu was screened.

On the occasion of the day, special prayers were organised in all the mosques, temples, and Buddhist monasteries under the port. A blood donation program was arranged and good quality food was served to the inpatients at the port hospital.

An internal cricket competition was organised among the young students at Chittagong Port Sports Complex at 4 p.m. Member (Engineering) Captain Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman distributed prizes among the players.
