66 organisations were recognised for their contribution to exports

66 companies received the National Export Trophy for the fiscal year 2017-18 for their contribution to the country’s export sector. The awards were handed over to representatives of the selected organisations at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dhaka on Thursday (7 April). President Md. Abdul Hamid delivered his speech virtually as the chief guest at the program. Minister of Commerce Tipu Munshi presided over the program and handed over the National Export Trophy to the winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Commerce Tipu Munshi said, ‘After separating from Pakistan, Bangladesh is ahead in all indicators today. This is our pride. The entrepreneurs of the country have been successful.’ He said, ‘The country’s export target for the current fiscal year has been set at 51 billion dollars. Hopefully, that will be met.’

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, FBCCI President Md. Jashim Uddin and AHA Ahsan, Vice Chairman of Export Promotion Bureau also spoke on the occasion.

Those who won the Export Trophy: Zaber & Jobayer Fabrics Limited won Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Export Trophy on the basis of the highest export income in the current fiscal year. Rifat Garment, a member of Ha-Meem Group, won the gold medal in the woven clothing category.

A.K.M Knit Wear won the silver medal and Tarasima Apparels Limited won the bronze medal in this category. Square Fashions won the gold medal in the knitwear category, Four H Fashions won the silver medal and GMS Composite Knitting won the bronze medal.

Kamal Yarn won the gold medal and Badsha Textiles the silver medal in the yarn category. Nice Cotton won the bronze medal. Envoy Textiles won the gold medal in textile fabrics and Noman Weaving Mills won the silver medal. Four H Dyeing and Printing won the bronze medal. Zaber & Jobayer Fabrics won the gold medal in home & specialised textiles. Noman Terry Towel Mills won the gold medal in terry towel. Universal Jeans won the gold medal and Pacific Jeans won the silver medal in the Bangladeshi-owned readymade garments category of EPZ.

BD SeaFood won the gold medal, MU Sea Food won the silver medal and Jalalabad Frozen Foods won the bronze medal in the frozen food category. Akij Jute Mills won the gold medal in jute products and The Golden Fiber Trade Center won the silver medal. International Jute Traders won gold in the raw jute category. Apex Tannery won the gold medal in leather. Picard Bangladesh won the gold medal in leather goods, ABC Footwear won silver and BBJ Leather Goods won bronze. Bay-Footwear has won the gold medal in the footwear sector.

Mansur General Trading has won the gold medal in agricultural products. Karupanya Rangpur won gold in the handicraft sector. Silver and bronze were awarded to Classical Handmade Products and BD Creation respectively. Bengal Plastics has won the gold medal in plastic products. Allplast Bangladesh won silver and Tanveer Polymer won bronze.

Shinepukur Ceramics won the gold medal and Artisan Ceramics won the silver in the ceramic category. Rangpur Metal won gold and Uniglory Cycle Components won silver in light engineering. BRB Cable won gold and Energypac Engineering won silver in electrical and electronics. BSRM Steels has won the gold medal in manufactured products. Silver and bronze were awarded to Marine Safety System and Asia Metal Marine Service. Square Pharma won the gold medal in pharmaceutical products and Beximco Pharmaceuticals won silver.

Montrims Limited has won the gold medal in packaging and accessories. M&U Packaging won the silver medal and Messrs. Uniglory Packaging Industries Ltd. won the bronze. Orchid Trading won gold and Eco Fresh International won silver in other primary products. Mir Telecom has won gold medals in other service sectors. Square Textiles has won the gold medal in the female entrepreneurs sector.
