Approval of Cabinet Committee for appointment of consultants in Bay-Terminal project

The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has appointed two Korean companies as international consulting firms for the project ‘Construction of Bay Terminal’ at Chittagong port. It will cost Tk 126 crores 49 lacs 73 thousand and 986.

The proposal was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement, virtually chaired by Minister of Finance AHM Mustafa Kamal, on Thursday (7 April) afternoon.

After the meeting, the Minister of Finance said that the 10th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and the 12th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement were held today. One proposal has been raised for the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and 11 for the approval of the Procurement Committee (along with 3 tabled presentations). Among the purchase proposals were 3 from the Ministry of Industries, 2 from the Department of Road Transport and Highways, 1 from the Ministry of Agriculture, 1 from the Ministry of Water Resources, 1 from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, 1 from Ministry of Shipping, 1 from the Department of Information and Communication Technology, and 1 from Department of Bridges. Of these, 10 proposals of the Procurement Committee have been approved.

At the end of the meeting, the Additional Secretary of the Cabinet, highlighting the details of the approved proposals, Md. Zahirul Islam told reporters that Korea’s Kunhwa Engineering and Consulting Company Limited and Dianyang Engineering Company Limited have jointly got the job as international consulting firms for the ‘Bay-Terminal Construction’ project in Chattogram by the Chittagong Port Authority under the Ministry of Shipping. The total cost will be Tk 126 crores 49 lacs 73 thousand and 986.
