Moskva, Russia’s warship that led the fleet in the Black Sea has sunk, the country’s Defence Ministry has said. An explosion took place on the flagship warship last Wednesday and it sank on Thursday. News: BBC.

Moscow informed about the fire caused by the explosion on the ship. Although, the cause of the fire was not informed immediately. However, Ukraine claims that anti-ship missiles were fired at Moskva.

Russia’s Defence Ministry says that Moskva sank in a gust of wind as it was headed towards the port. This cruiser, along with its 510 sailors, is considered a symbol of Russia’s military might. Moskva led Russia’s naval attack in Ukraine.

Ukraine says that the missiles fired by them hit the Russian warship. However, Moscow did not report any attacks. Russia claims the ship sank at sea after the fire.

Russia says that the fire caused the ship’s ammunition to explode. Later, all the crew of the ship was transferred to another Russian ship near the Black Sea. It lost its balance while tugging the latter towards the port. The ship sank because of the rough seas.

However, Ukrainian military officials said that the attack on Moskva was carried out with Neptune missiles made in the country. The weapon was created after Russia occupied Crimea in 2014.
