Import-export trade between India and Bangladesh through the Hili land port of Dinajpur started on Saturday (16 April) after a two-day holiday on the occasion of Bengali New Year and a weekly holiday. Due to the two-day holiday, all activities at the port were closed. However, the crossing of passport-carrying passengers continued between the two countries through the Hili immigration check post, the authority said.
Harun Ur Rashid, president of the Hili Land Port Import-Export Group, said that all departments of Hili Customs were closed on Thursday, the first day of Boishakh, on the occasion of the Bengali New Year, and Friday, a weekly holiday. Import-export trade between the two countries has resumed from this morning through the port as the holiday is over.
