Mamata's meeting with Minister of Commerce in Kolkata

Minister of Commerce Tipu Munshi met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday (18 April) ahead of the Bengal Global Business Summit in Kolkata, West Bengal.

The Minister of Commerce is leading the Bangladesh delegation in the two-day business event starting on Tuesday.

According to meeting sources, Tipu Munshi and Mamata Banerjee both recalled the close and warm relations between the people of Bangladesh and West Bengal.

The Minister of Commerce mentioned the full support of the people of West Bengal in the Great Liberation War of 1971. Issues of common interest in trade and investment were discussed in detail in the bilateral meeting.

The need to develop border infrastructure for trade facilitation, investment in the jute and leather sector as well as the possibility of setting up huts on the border also came up in the meeting.
