The Prime Minister emphasised increasing communication with India

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stressed the need to enhance communication between Bangladesh and India for mutual interest and said that steps have been taken to re-open the inter-border routes between the two countries which were closed in 1965. We need to increase communication. If communication between the two countries increases, the north-eastern Indian states of Assam and Tripura will be able to use Chittagong port.

The Prime Minister said this on Wednesday (28 April) afternoon, when Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar was paying a courtesy call at Ganobhaban.
After the meeting, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Ihsanul Karim briefed the journalists.

During the meeting, they expressed satisfaction over the current state of bilateral relations between the two countries.

In this context, the Prime Minister said that the high-level visit between the two countries would provide impetus to take the relationship forward.

The Indian Foreign Minister said that bilateral issues between the two countries are being reviewed and progress is being made.

Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen, Senior Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Md. Tofazzal Hossain Mia and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami were present on the occasion.
