2.25 crore litres of soybean oil is being unloaded at Chittagong port

A ship carrying soybean oil arrived at Chittagong port during a crisis of soybean oil. After reaching the port on Thursday (28 April), unloading activities are going on in full force. There are 2 crores and 29 lac litres of soybean oil on the ship.

Bashundhara Group, City Group, Bangladesh Edible Oil Ltd., and Sena Kalyan Edible Oil Ltd. have imported the soybean oil on the MV Orient Challenge ship.

After importing the oil, it was kept at the customs bonded tank terminal in the Patenga area. And after paying taxes, the companies unloaded the oil from the tank terminal to factories where it was refined.

The price of soybean oil in the world market became unstable after the Russia-Ukraine war. The price increase reached new records after Argentina announced limiting exports and Indonesia announced stopping the export of palm oil.
