Another shipment of Metrorail arrived at Mongla port

Another shipment with coaches and locomotives of Metrorail has arrived at Mongla port. The unloading began on Saturday (30 April) after the Panama-flagged commercial ship MV Horizon-9 with 8 coaches and 4 engines arrived at the Mongla port jetty.
Earlier, on 6 April, the ninth shipment of Metrorail left Japan’s Kobe port for Mongla.

The ninth shipment includes 19 packages of machinery including 8 coaches and 4 engines.
After the unloading, these coaches, engines, and machinery will be taken by river to Metrorail’s depot in Diabari, Uttara.

Acting Secretary of Mongla Port Authority and Harbour Master Commander Sheikh Fakhruddin said that 56 coaches and 28 engines of Metrorail have arrived at Mongla Port in 9 shipments so far. Earlier, 48 coaches and 24 engines in 8 shipments were unloaded at Mongla port and then sent to Diabari depot in Uttara, Dhaka. After the addition of these coaches, Metrorail activities are being carried out in Dhaka on a trial basis.
