Two state-of-the-art quay gantry cranes (QGCs) and three rubber-tipped gantries (RTGs) used for container handling are being added to the fleet of the country’s main seaport, Chittagong port. Adding these will increase the speed of container handling.
On Saturday (7 May), the ship ‘Zhen Hua 12’ carrying this equipment docked at jetty no. 5 of the new mooring container terminal in the port.
These will be quickly added to container handling after unloading, installation, and experimental management.
At present, there are 4 QGC operations in CCT and 10 in NCT of the port. Two new QGCs will be installed at NCT-5 jetty.
