Export revenue increased by 51%

Exports of garments have increased as the global supply chain has returned to normal. Overall, the country’s export revenue increased by 51.18% in April.

According to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Monday (9 May), revenue for the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, from July to April, rose by 35.14% to 43.34 billion dollars compared to the same period last year.

According to EPB data, Bangladesh has met its export target two months before the end of the current fiscal year. In the tenth month of the current fiscal year, April, the exporters of Bangladesh brought in 473 crores and 87 lac (4.74 billion) dollars of foreign exchange by exporting various products.

Revenue from ready-made garments during July-April was 35.36 billion dollars, 36% more compared to the same period last fiscal year. Revenue from this sector has increased by about 22% more than the target.

The country’s export revenue is 51.18% higher than in April last year. This month, the revenue has exceeded the target by 40.66%. Exporters earned 43.34 billion dollars in 10 months of the fiscal year, i.e. July-April. This figure is 12% higher than the entire period of the last fiscal year (July 2021 to April 2022).

If this trend of export continues, at the end of the fiscal year, Bangladesh will make history in the export trade by crossing the milestone of 52 billion dollars. Exporters hope that this positive trend will continue in the remaining two months of the fiscal year (May and June).

The export target in April was set at 336 crores and 90 lac dollars. In April last year, the revenue from the export of goods was 313 crores and 44 lac dollars. In 10 months, the overall export revenue has increased by 35.14%. The revenue has exceeded the target by 20.52%.

This income in April is the fourth highest in the history of Bangladesh. The highest was in December of last year, 490 crores and 77 lac (4.90 billion) dollars. The second highest was in January this year, 485 crores 3 lacs and 70 thousand (4.85 billion) dollars. In March was the third-highest at 476 crores and 22 lac dollars. In February, it was 429 crores and 45 lac (4.29 billion) dollars.
