This year, the per capita income has risen by $233 to $2,824. Last year it was $2,591.

According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), the periodic per capita income for the fiscal year 2021-22 stood at Tk 2 lacs 41 thousand and 470 or USD 2,814. In the fiscal year 2020-21, the per capita income was Tk 2 lacs 19 thousand and 738 or USD 2 thousand 591. In the fiscal year 2021-22, the GDP growth rate stood at 7.25%. The final GDP growth rate for the fiscal year 2020-21 was 6.94%.
The Minister said that the total size of GDP is USD 465 billion. The agriculture sector is projected to have a periodic growth of 2.20% in the fiscal year 2021-22. Of this, growth is estimated at 1.6% in the grain sub-sector, 3.10% in the animal husbandry sub-sector, 5.8% in the forest sub-sector, and 2.8% in the fisheries sector.
He further said that the growth of the manufacturing sector in the industrial sector in 2021-22 has been estimated at 12.31% as compared to the previous year. Besides, growth of 7.24% in the power sector and 8.94% in the construction sector has been projected for the year. Overall, the industrial sector is projected to grow by 10.44% in the fiscal year 2021-22 as compared to last year (2020-21).
In the service sector, growth in the wholesale and retail business sector in the 2021-22 fiscal year has been 8.72%, 5.70% growth in the automotive sector, 7.60% growth in the banking and insurance sector, 6.23% growth in the education sector and 9.78% growth in the health sector. Overall, the services sector is projected to grow at 6.31% in the fiscal year 2021-22 as compared to the previous year (2020-21), he added.
