Farewell reception of the Secretary of Shipping

Minister of State for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP is handing over the crest to the outgoing Naval Secretary

Sunday (22 May) was the last working day of Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury as the Secretary of Shipping. On 18 May, he was promoted from Secretary of Shipping to Secretary of Local Government by order of the President. State Minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP was the chief guest at the farewell function. Senior officials of ministries and various agencies and departments under the ministries were present at the time.

Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury joined the Ministry of Shipping on 27 February 2020 as Secretary. Before joining the ministry, he was the Additional Secretary in the Appointment, Promotion, and Deputation Division of the Ministry of Public Administration.

Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury was born on 31 December 1965 in Chattogram. His father was the late Tofail Uddin Chowdhury and his mother was Jahanara Begum. His district is Feni. He holds an HSC from Government Haji Mohsin College, a Bachelor’s degree from Dhaka University, and an MBA in Human Resource Management from Stamford University. This ninth batch officer joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) cadre in 1991. Subsequently, he has worked as Assistant Commissioner in field administration, UNO, Deputy Commissioner, and Divisional Commissioner. He has also served in key ministries such as the Economic Relations Department and the Cabinet Department.

Md. Mostafa Kamal has been appointed as the new Shipping Secretary. Earlier, he was the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change.
