In the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, the implementation of the Annual Development Program (ADP) has increased as compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. From last July to May, the average implementation rate of various development projects under ADP was about 66%. Which was a little less than 59% during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
In a briefing after the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday (14 June), the Minister of State for Planning, Dr. Shamsul Alam provided information on ADP implementation from the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the ECNEC meeting. She was connected via video conference from Ganobhaban. The meeting was held in the NEC conference room of the Planning Commission.
The briefing was attended by Pradip Ranjan Chakraborty, Member of Department of Activities, Planning Commission, Mosammat Nasima Begum, Member, Department of Socio-Economic Infrastructure, AKM Fazlul Haque, Member, Department of Industries and Energy, Dr. Kawser Ahmed, Member of the Department of General Economics, Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, IMED Secretary of Planning Ministry, and others were present.
The Minister of State for Planning said that in spite of various problems, the pace of implementation of ADP in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year has been good. This is good news at the moment. Tk 1 lac 42 thousand and 387 crores have been spent on various development projects under ADP in 11 months. This was Tk 1 lac 22 thousand and 161 crores in the same period of last fiscal year.
It must be mentioned that there are 1,828 projects in the current ADP. After the amendment, the size of ADP stands at Tk 2 lacs 17 thousand and 175 crores.
