In the 11 months (July-May) of the current 2021-22 tax year, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has collected a total of Tk 2 lakhs 52 thousand 920 crores and 76 lacs as income tax, local level value-added tax (VAT) and import-export duty. This is 14.93% more than the same period of the last tax year. In the first 11 months of the last tax year, the amount of revenue income was Tk 2 lacs 20 thousand and 72 crores.
According to the sector-based revenue income calculation, the income from the import and export duty sector in the first 11 months was Tk 80 thousand 48 crores and 79 lacs, at the local VAT level it was Tk 95 thousand 14 crores and 66 lacs and in the income tax and travel tax sector it was Tk 77 thousand 28 crores and 61 lacs. However, the revenue is lagging behind the target. The revenue target for 11 months was Tk 2 lacs 86 thousand 91 crore and 55 lacs.
In the first 11 months of the last 2020-21 tax year, the revenue from import-export duty was Tk 68 thousand 10 crores and 54 lacs, which increased to Tk 80 thousand 48 crores and 97 lacs in the same period of the current tax year. In this case, the growth has been 18.18%.
During this period, the income tax collection increased by 17.62%. In the 11 months of the last tax year, the revenue income from this sector was Tk 65 thousand 70 crores and 67 lacs, this time the income has been Tk 77 thousand 28 crores and 61 lacs. Just like customs and income tax, it has also been possible to achieve high growth in VAT revenue. In this case, 10.30% growth has been achieved. In the first 11 months of the last tax year, the amount of VAT revenue was Tk 62 thousand and 26 crores. This time the income has been Tk 95 thousand 14 crores and 66 lacs.
