Two more quay gantry cranes are being added to Chittagong port

MV Xin Chen Hai Yang - crane carrying ship from China

Five more state-of-the-art cranes are being added to the Chittagong port operation to speed up container handling. Of these, two are quay gantry cranes (QGC) and three are rubber tire gantries (RTG).

At noon on Monday (4 July), the ship MV Xin Chen Hai Yang arrived at jetty no. 5 of the new mooring container terminal (NCT) at the port carrying these pieces of machinery.

All types of shipping through the port-channel were stopped when the cargo ship entered the port. If the two new QGCs are added to the operation, the number of quay gantry cranes in the port’s NCT and CCT will stand at 18. This will increase the mobility of the port. All five cranes came from China.
