The jetty construction work of Patenga Container Terminal of Chittagong port has been completed 100%. Work is going on 24/7 to complete the rest of the project. The Port Authority is completing the preparation process for container handling.
Director of the project Md. Mizanur Rahman Sarkar said that the main work of PCT was the construction of a jetty. This work is 100% finished. About 96% of the entire project has been completed. Now the work for the underground water tank, overhead water tank next to the administration building, and yard construction are going on in full swing.
The project is being implemented at a cost of Tk 1 thousand and 230 crores with the port’s funding. The 600-metre jetty at PCT can simultaneously accommodate 3 container ships of 190 metres in length and 10.5 metres in draft (underwater part of the ship). The backup yard is about 16 acres in this project under construction on 32 acres of land. There is a container capacity of 4,500 TEUs.
In this project, 1 lac and 12 thousand square metre RCC pavement (inner yard and road), 2 thousand and 128 square metre container freight station (CFS) shed, 6 metre high 1 thousand and 750-metre customs bonded wall, 5 thousand and 580 square feet port office building, 1 thousand and 200 square metre mechanical and repair factory, 420-metre flyover for airport traffic, 1/4 kilometre of four-lane roads and 1 kilometre of 6 lane roads have been reconstructed.
