In the last three days since Saturday, customs have seized 5 containers of liquor that were falsely declared at Chittagong port. Last Monday (25 July) 2 containers of liquor were seized. About 47,000 litres of liquor worth Tk 44 crores and 61 lacs were found in the previous 3 containers. The previous 3 consignments were imported using fake IPs (import permits) of 3 establishments in Comilla, Nilphamari Uttara, and Ishwardi EPZs.
Although the importers of the 3 consignments were different, a C&F agent named Zafar Ahmed was responsible for the clearance. RAB arrested 3 people from Dhaka in this incident.
The 2 consignments seized on Monday were brought in the name of Dongjin Industrial Company of Uttara EPZ and VIP Industries Bangladesh Pvt Ltd of Mongla EPZ. Among the 3 consignments seized earlier, one was from Dongjin Industries.
