A two-day long ‘Third Steel and Raw Materials Conference’ began at Radisson Blu Chattogram Bay View in Chattogram today (20 September, Wednesday).
Aiming to attract local and foreign investment in the sector, the mega event is being organised by the international company SteelMint and Ahmed Enterprises in a joint venture with Bangladesh’s steel sector pioneer PHP Family.
International organisations, manufacturers of steel mill machinery, consulting firms, steel materials suppliers, consultants, specialist engineers, steel mill owners, and delegates from Germany, Australia, Turkey, India, Austria Russia, Taiwan, China, Japan, and America are attending the conference.
At the conference venue, around 34 stalls of renowned companies from home and abroad including BSRM, PHP Family, KY Steel, HM Steel, Anwar Ispat, Salam Steel, ZSRM, Tata Group from India, Raghav Products, Mitsui from Japan, Kobe Steel from Korea, Hyundai Steel, SMS Group from Germany, Electrotherm, Inductotherm are showcasing their products and services.
Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, Founder and Chairman of PHP Family inaugurated the conference while Chairman and CEO of BSRM Group Alihussain Akberali delivered the welcome speech.
A discussion session on Global Change in Steel Industry and its Impact on Bangladesh’ followed the inaugural session. Managing Director of BSRM Aameir Alihussain, CPA Board Member (Admin and Planning) Md Zafar Alam and international consultant on steel Rajesh Agarwal spoke at the session.
