Made in Bangladesh Week begins on 12 November

BGMEA, in a press release says, apparel summit ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’ will kick off on 12 November. An exchange of views between the leadership and the members of the organisation was held in this regard last week.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan during the meeting said, because of an unprecedented global economic volatility, and inflation at the US and the European markets, the local apparel industry is facing a very crucial time at present.

He lauded the owners of the industry for their hard labour, aptitude and initiative in achieving a 35.46% growth in the last fiscal year.   

The BGMEA President in his speech, emphasised on capacity building in the utilisation of technology as well as in the designing and branding areas for the overall growth of the sector, saying, to sustain in the international market we will need to work in a more prudent and conscious manner.

He hoped, ‘Made in Bangladesh’ Week from 12-18 November will promote the apparel industry of Bangladesh locally and globally by showcasing the compelling stories of the ready-made garments sector, especially its impressive strides in the areas of workplace safety, environmental sustainability and workers’ well-being.
