Bangladesh has emerged as the 23rd largest trading partner of India, at the end of the last financial year, official data shows.
Export from India to Bangladesh from April to September stood at 6,663 million dollars while import was 1,068 million dollars.
Driven largely by a surge in oil imports, Russia has emerged as India’s fifth largest trading partner during April-September, jumping from the 25th place.
The US and China, however, have retained the top two positions. Trade with the US jumped by 20 per cent because of a surge in exports (15 per cent to $41. 5 billion) and imports (29 per cent to $26 billion) with UAE at the 3rd and Saudi Arabia in the 4th position.
