The government has decided to purchase 1.7 million tonnes of fuel oil to meet the domestic demand of the country. These fuels will be bought from China, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The total expenditure of the government will be BDT 12,850 crores.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal chaired the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement held virtually On Wednesday (July 26) and approved the proposal of the Energy Department.
Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Department, also said that Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, has proposed to import 1.68 million metric tonnes of refined fuel oil from six state-owned companies (PTTT Thailand, ENOC United Arab Emirates, PetroChina China, BSP Indonesia, PTLCL Malaysia and UNIPEC China) from July 2023 to December 2023. The import proposal has been approved. The cost including premium and reference price has been estimated at BDT 12,850 crores.
