Normal activities of Chittagong port resume after suspension of transport strike

Chittagong port returns to normal operation after the transport strike, which was called as a protest to rising fuel prices, was called off. Freight trucks, covered vans, lorries, and prime movers started operating from Monday night. Because of this, the work of supplying imported goods and bringing goods from ICD to the port for shipping has started in full swing. After a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, the leaders of the Transport Owners-Workers Unity Council called off the strike at 10 pm on Monday.

The operational activities of the port were not completely stopped despite the strike. In addition to container handling, there was also a limited supply during this time. Organizations that had their own transport have taken products on their initiative.

Goods and public transport have been on strike since last Friday morning following the rise in diesel prices. Due to the strike, the supply of imported goods from Chittagong port and entry of export cargo containers at the port decreased at an unusual rate from that morning.
